A project to turn the abandoned Farah building off I-10 into an upscale shopping center is dead.

Monday, county commissioners voted against giving 4 million dollars in tax rebates to Paul Foster and Regency Centers.

Speaking on behalf of Foster, Brent Harris told Newschannel Nine the rebates were vital to the project, even with the 8 million dollars in tax rebates city council approved last month. Harris says they will look into other options, but he is not optimistic.
