Murder Mystery In East El Paso County

By KTSM News 1

Tuesday, July 22, 2008- It is a murder mystery out of Horizon City.  Two men have been arrested for a murder that allegedly happened on April 2, 2008.  The El Paso County Sheriff's Department has been strangely quiet about that murder until now.

Tuesday, El Paso County Sheriff's Deputies announced they are searching for 20 year old Raymundo Martinez of East El Paso.  Martinez is considered armed and dangerous and is wanted in connection to the murder of Hector Longoria Jr.

"We'd like to inform anybody who may be aiding, abetting, or harboring Mr. Martinez that they also stand subject to criminal charges."  says Sergeant James Belknap.

Newschannel 9 has confirmed that Martinez is wanted for his connection to two other men who have already been arrested and charged in the murder of Longoria.

According to the criminal complaint the three men attacked Longoria and beat him over the head with a metal bat until he died.

Very few questions were answered at Tuesday's news conference.  Still, we asked why, when the murder reportedly occurred April 2, why we have heard nothing of it until now.

Belknap explained "The actual murder occurred April 2. The information did not come to us nor any information in reference to the case until well after that." Though Belknap would not say exactly when that information did come to the Sheriff's Department.

Perhaps the strangest thing about this case, Sgt. Belknap tells Newschannel 9 that Hector Longoria's body has not yet been found.  When asked why the department believes the murder took place when investigators have not found the victim's body, Sgt. Belknap said he could not comment.
