Manhunt for Armed Suspects

Thursday, July 17, 2008 - Deputies were called out to the 4600 block of Turf near Montana in Far East El Paso around 11 o'clock last night after residents reported seeing armed men in the area. When sheriff's deputies arrived, shots were fired in their direction. No one was hurt, the suspected gunmen fled, sparking a SWAT situation at a nearby mobile home where the suspects were thought to be hiding. No one was found. The SWAT situation was called off at close to 2:30 A.M. However, investigators are now searching for 28-year old Gabriel Vasquez and 22-year old Vicente Rivas. Deputies tell us they are not sure if the pair were the gunmen that shot at them, but residents in the mobile home report seeing them in the area. Investigators say Vasquez and Rivas were involved in a similar in similar incident at the same mobile home park on Monday. The pair just bonded out of jail and are considered armed and dangerous.
