Wednesday, July 16, 2008- El Paso astronaut Danny Olivas is headed back to space. Olivas, who was a key member on the Space Shuttle Atlantis last year will, has been selected as part of the crew of the STS-128.
The flight is scheduled to launch in the summer of 2009. Danny's father, Juan Olivas tells Newschannel 9 that his son is expected to take part in two or three spacewalks this time around.
The mission of the STS-128 will be to carry science and storage racks to the International Space Station.
In 2007, Danny, who graduated from Utep and Burgess High School, took two spacewalks, one of which included repairing the torn thermal blanket on the Atlantis.
