Mother Of Murder Victim Speaks Only To Newschannel 9

By KTSM News 1

Wednesday, July 16, 2008- The mother of Gabrielle Herrera spoke exclusively Wednesday to Newschannel 9 about her daughter's death and the man accused of brutally murdering her.

Gabrielle worked as a dancer at Jaguar's Gentleman's Club.  Her mother says she didn't agree with her daughter's line of work but she understood that Gabrielle was working to provide for her own two children.

"They bring home 2 to 3 hundred dollars a night and you can't make that money doing office work.  I mean what you make in a week they make in a night." says Mrs. Herrera.

According to her mother, Gabrielle had many friends and trusted just about everyone, including Javier Silva, the man accused of murdering her.

"Something we can't understand as a person, as a normal person, why this man did what he did to her... I can't even comprehend it in my mind it was such a brutal, brutal, murder."  says Mrs. Herrera.

Gabrielle's body was found in a desert area in East El Paso.  She had been stabbed more than 20 times and her body had been burned.

Mrs. Herrera tell us, "When someone goes in and steals their life like that you feel robbed, when someone dies of old age you know they lived their life, but she was only 20 and he took her on her birthday, you just feel like you're robbed."
