West Nile Virus Confirmed in East El Paso

Monday, June 7, 2008- An East El Paso man becomes El Paso County's first confirmed case of West Nile Virus so far this year. 

The City Health Department says the 65 year-old man lives around Lee Trevino and Yarbrough, where he is said to be recovering from the virus at home.

Officials with the city say that so far, no mosquitos have tested positive for West Nile Virus.  Investigators say it is possible that the man could have been infected somewhere else.

The symptoms of West Nile Virus include fever, nausea and headache.  The virus can be deadly among children and the elderly.
