Thursday, May 08, 2008 – The Public Service Board mad that decision on Wednesday, in an effort to heed some of the public outcry and reduce the storm water utility fee. The new fee structure will have most homes pay just under $3.00, instead of the almost $5.00, now in effect.

The fee is for maintenance of the current flood infrastructure and to build new facilities to prevent floods, such as the ones that paralyzed the city in 2006.

Businesses, which had been hardest hit by the storm water fee, will also see their rate reduced from $ 4.85 per 2,000 sq. ft. of property to just over $3.00. The new fee is not retroactive.
