Palomas, Mexico Gets New Police Force

Friday, March 28, 2008 – The new Police Chief says he and his 10 officers are there to protect the people. Though with only 6 guns and 2 police units, but admits he needs more resources. The new chief and his officers understand their safety and lives are on the long, but it’s just a part of their job. The former chief and his force left town, when a group of armed men opened fire at the chief’s home, spraying his house with bullets. Authorities say the former chief has asked the U.S. to grant him amnesty.

In response to the increasing violence, across the border; Mexican authorities have already sent more than 500 soldiers and are expect to send 2,000 more. The additional soldiers will arrived in the next few days. Additionally, 180 vehicles will be used for patrolling, as well as three-airplanes.
