Fugitive Shot In Cloudcroft Was Unarmed

Friday, March 28, 2008 – Sergeant Sean Jett shot and killed Kurt Sohrbeck, in what was said to be a shoot-out. Sohrbeck was spotted but Deputy Jett, while riding a bike in Cloudcroft. But now, state police admitted Sohrbeck was unarmed. According to reports, Sohrbeck refused to take his hand out of his pocket, when the deputy told him to. In that pocket, was a folding box-cutter; that’s when Deputy Jett, shot and killed Sohrbeck.

A news release from the state police, says “Previously released information indicated that there was an exchange of gunfire; when Kurt Sohrbeck was killed. However, at this point, it has been determined that Sohrbeck was unarmed at the time”.

Police added that Sohrbeck’s behavior was “furtive, aggressive and threatening”.
