Local businesses in El Paso are getting ready to compete against large retail stores during tomorrow's small business saturday sales.

"I'm from El Paso and I think it's a good idea to support the businesses here because they're just have more personality and i feel like it means a little bit more," sales representative Natalie Johns said.

According to UTEP's economics professor Dr. Tom Fullerton black friday sales represents a multimillion dollar impact for the local economy. This gives small businesses a chance to take advantage of the opportunity.

"They jump on to the wagon and take advantage of it and notify their customers of what's going on and small businesses can take advantage of internet campaigns and social media campaigns it's not very costly," Fullerton said.

Online sales are also becoming a strong competitor which is why Bicycle Company store manager Tony Petta says they're doing the best to offer quality and good prices in his store.

"We're trying to tell people to buy local we try and if they see something online we try at least if it's possible to price match," Petta said.

But for Natalie Johns with Fetch clothing in West El Paso you might find better prices if you shop at local stores versus big box retailers.

"Tomorrow everything will be 15 percent off also plus everything that either has pink or orange will be 30 percent off we have a really good price point so everything is pretty reasonable," Johns said.
