WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Education named two local schools, Douglas Elementary of E.P.I.S.D. and Mission Early College High School of S.I.S.D. As National Blue Ribbon schools. "I want to commend the teachers, staff, administration, families, and students at both Douglas Elementary School and Mission Early College High School,” said Congressman Reyes. “Becoming a National Blue Ribbon school is no easy feat and this distinction brings great honor and recognition to El Paso.” At the invitation of Department of Education Secretary, Arne Duncan, the principal and one teacher from each school will be invited to Washington, D.C. for the November 12th and 13th Recognition Ceremony. Representatives from each school will receive a National Blue Ribbon Schools plaque and a flag.
