Local Motorcyclists Ride in Honor of Friend Killed 3 Years Ago
EL PASO - The family and friends of a motorcyclist who was killed in an accident in the Lower Valley three years ago spent the weekend riding in his honor.
Edward Covarrubio, 42, died when the driver of a pick up truck collided with his motorcycle at the intersection of Alameda and Midway.
Family and friends gathered for a ride to remember him and urge motorists to use caution when driving around motorcyclists.
Covarrubio's daughter, Amber Covarrubio is glad the riders are spreading the message about motorcycle safety.
"I think if you see a person on a motorcycle, you should at least keep a couple of feet away from them because you never know when they could do a wrong move or you could do a wrong move. For people on motorcycles, they should be wearing a helmet because you never know what's going to happen," she said.
