His passion for writing has driven one El Pasoan to write books for children in our community.

We caught up with Phillip Cortez this morning at Barnes and Noble on the Eastside...
He is the author of two children's book "Night Rhythms," and "When I Close My Eyes", which are currently out.
He is also working on a third book - Ava & The Monsters.
Cortez says his love of writing began back in elementary school with the support of one his teachers...

"Growing up here in El Paso, in West Texas, Horizon, lot of desert...it's a blank canvas, lot of imagination growing up. Obviously we didn't have what we have now as far as technology, but I think that to me, at that time she was able to transport me to a whole other place," said Cortez.

If you would like to meet this fellow El Pasoan, Cortez will have a book signing at the Barnes and Noble at The Fountains at Farah on June 28th from 2-4 p.m.
