EL PASO (KTSM) — As 2014 nears local bars and restaurants like Mesa Street Grill in West El Paso are getting ready for the New Year’s Eve celebrations.
Business owners said that although this is the busiest season of the year, it also represents more competitiveness. That’s why they're working hard to attract the attention of New Year’s customers.
"For New Year's Eve at night were doing a masquerade full live theatre kind of dinner theme show a little bit of burlesque a little bit of everything it's a little racy but fun and entertaining," Mesa Street Grill General Manager Aaron Means said.
El Pasoans will have many options to pick from, clubs, restaurants and even outdoor activities like the countdown to UTEP’s centennial and the Lotus Club "New York style celebration" in Downtown El Paso.
"We'll actually have two of our signature LED balls one inside and one outside that will actually do the count down, the one outside will actually descend like it does in New York, it's an indoor outdoor block party last year we sold out," Townsquare media spokesperson Jacqueline Dubow said.
Dubow said support from the local community is vital during this time of year.
"There’s lots of great things coming to El Paso and there's so many different venues that are doing some great events but I think it's a great opportunity for everyone to get out and actually participate in the city," Dubow added.
Several restaurants will also offer cab services and free rides for those that might need it to prevent any accidents.
"We'll get them a cab and a safe ride home or hotel the last thing we want is to put somebody in the street that doesn't belong or shouldn't be there it's just not worth it," Means said.
According to business owners aside from having a good time the economic impact during this season is positive for the borderland.
"For us it's very big we're just across the Sun Bowl, we don't do the normal thing all restaurants do like I said we're doing a full live theatre dinner with dancers and singers it's really good entertainment," Means concluded.
Free parking will be available in Downtown El Paso for the New Year’s Eve block party.
