El Paso, TX — It was the second say of snow in the Borderland. Some furry El Pasoans got a taste of the snow for the first time in their adult lives.
The El Paso Zoo let out their African lions on Friday. For the first time in their adult lives, the big cats got to pounce, run, and play in the snow.
Other animals also got a taste of the white stuff. The Mexican wolves and the Asian Wild Horses - which are extinct in the wild, got to frolic in the zoo.
African lions are not used to the snow, but zoo keepers say they are strong, big cats.
"They're really hearty animals. But also for their comfort level we give them the option to go inside and dry off. Or if they want to play so give them an option so they can choose what they want to do," Eliza Light, a Zoo Keeper with the El Paso Zoo tells us.
The El Paso Zoo opened at noon on Friday. They open their gates from 9:30 AM and sell their last ticket at 4 PM every day of the week.
