LCPD: Man pulls out gun in fight over Sam's Club parking space

LAS CRUCES, NM (KTSM) - A Las Cruces man is facing multiple charges after police allege that he pulled out a gun on a family during a dispute over a parking space in the Sam's Club parking lot on Telshor Sunday afternoon.

Jose Teixeira, 39, is charged with five counts of aggravated battery and is currently being held at the Doña Ana County Detention Center without bond.

According to court documents, Teixeira and another couple were trying to find a parking space in the Sam's Club parking lot on Sunday when Teixeira attempted to reverse into a space. The driver of the car behind him, which had a family of five inside refused to move and honked at him and allegedly flipped him off.

The passenger in the rear car got out to tell Teixeira to move, and that's when he allegedly pulled out a gun on him. The passenger went back to the car he was in and Teixeira allegedly waved the gun toward the family for about 30 seconds before getting back into his car and driving off, according to documents.

The members of the family in the other car snapped a photo of Teixeira's license plate and tracked him to his home where he allegedly admitted being involved in the altercation.
