Lawmakers to hold hearing about VA health care in Phoenix
NBC News — On Thursday, Senate lawmakers on Capitol Hill will hold a hearing on the state of the Veteran's Administration Health Care.
The hearing comes amid allegations that a VA hospital in the Phoenix area delayed treatment for vets. Committee members are expected to hear testimony regarding alleged back-logs and exceedingly long wait times which may have caused the deaths of more than three dozen vets.
Some GOP lawmakers are calling on VA Secretary, Eric K. Shinseki, to resign over the emerging scandal. An independent investigation into the matter is currently underway.
