EL PASO (KTSM) — Tuesday is the last day to submit your ideas.
Socorro Independent School District is encouraging the community to submit ideas for the name of the new sparks area elementary school. The school is expected to open in July of 2014.
After Sept 24, community members, parents, students and the district staff will review the names submitted, school mascots and colors to the Superintendent José Espinoza and the SISD Board of Trustees for consideration.
The elementary school may be named after an individual. This means that person may be living or deceased. However, according to the District, greater considerations will be given to names of the deceased.
The new school will serve families in the fast-growing Eastlake feeder pattern, and is the 46th school built in SISD, according to Espinoza.
Submissions may be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org, faxed to 915-937-0194 or delivered by 4 p.m. Sept. 24 to the Public Relations Department in the District Service Center at 12440 Rojas Dr.
