Las Cruces Woman Hit by Burglar After Interrupting Burglary

A woman was hurt during a burglary, and now police are asking for the community's help in identifying the assailant. 

Las Cruces police say that shortly after noon on Tuesday, a woman was returning to her apartment at Regency Pointe located at 3000 Majestic Ridge when she noticed her door was partially open. 

Police say that when the woman stepped inside, she was hit in the head by a man. The man then hit the victim several times before leaving with the woman's purse. 

The woman's injuries were minor, police said. 

The suspect is described as a black male, around 6-feet tall, and weighing around 200 pounts. He is said to have a muscular build short, curly hair, and a goatee. The suspect was wearing a red shirt with white stripes. 

The suspect may have left the area in a dark blue Chevrolet Monte Carlo, possibly driven by someone else and with other occupants.
