Las Cruces Stabbing Suspect Behind Bars
Las Cruces — Las Cruces Police arrested a man suspected of stabbing another during a fight that occurred Tuesday evening.
Francisco A. Viscara, 21, was arrested Wednesday evening and is charged with one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
Police said the victim of the stabbing was initially transported to a local hospital and then airlifted to University Medical Center of El Paso. His injuries are not life-threatening.
Las Cruces Police detectives said that a group of young men were involved in a fight sometime around 9 p.m. Sept. 18 near the corner of 5th Street and Madero Avenue. At some point during the fight Viscara arrived, got out of a gray Toyota and stabbed the victim once in the chest with a small kitchen knife.
Viscara then fled the area but was located by police on Wednesday evening. Viscara had two Magistrate Court warrants for failure to appear and was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center.
