You can now adopt a furry friend as you shop for groceries or at a closer location in Las Cruces!

Animal Services Center will facilitate dog, cat, puppy, and kitten adoptions this Saturday, August 2nd.

Adoption fees are $75 for dogs/ puppies and $50 for cats/kittens. The fee includes the first set of vaccinations, spay/neuter and microchip.


There will be two off-site pet adoption events in addtion to adoptions at the shelter site:

Farmer's Market in downtown Las Cruces

8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Dogs will be located at the north end of the mall and 

cats will be at the offices of the Center of Spiritual Living.


Petco on 3050 E. Lohman, Las Cruces

9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Services available for pet already with homes at Petco only:

Microchipping : $20

Pet licenses wil be available for neutered pets:$5 (proof of spay required)

Licenses for unneutered pets:$25

Pet owners must also bring proof of rabies vaccination for pet to be licensed.


Daily cat adoptions are available at both PetCo on 3050 E. Lohman and Pet’s Barn on 1600 S. Valley Dr. that are both in Las Cruces.

The Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley also offers low-cost spay/neuter operations at the rate of $35 for dogs and $25 for cats. Appointments can be scheduled by calling the shelter offices.

Dedicated transport drivers who are able to handle rambunctious adult dogs and puppies are needed for transport services on Saturday mornings in conjunction with off-site adoption initiatives. Volunteers must be 18 or older with valid registration, driver’s license, and insurance. Training courses will be provided to selected applicants. Orientation and training provided and required prior to volunteering with ASCMV.

Volunteers also are needed to assist with animal care and socializing, as well as helping to facilitate cat adoptions on Saturdays at the Farmer’s Market. To apply, contact
