LAS CRUCES – People in Las Cruces are receiving automated phone calls seeking their credit card information, said Las Cruces Police.

The automated voice says the customer’s credit card has been deactivated.

The automated voice then asks the customer to use their cell phone keypad to enter their credit card number in order to reactivate it.

The number usually shows up on caller ID as a four digit number such as “1402.”

If you receive a call like this, police say the best thing to do is hang up.
