Las Cruces man shot at rest area
DEMING, NM — A Las Cruces man remains hospitalized tonight after being shot at a New Mexico rest area two days ago. It happened at about two a.m. Monday when 44 year-old Eric Arzate told authorities that three people tried to rob him when he stopped at the rest stop along Highway 180, about 20 miles north of Deming. He then says he was shot. So far no suspects have been arrested. Arzate is recovering in an El Paso hospital. His condition is unknown.
