EL PASO- Las Cruces High School ROTC, students and staff are sending care packages to soldiers in Afghanistan.

For the last couple months, Las Cruces High School has been collecting personal items like toothbrushes, cookies and other items for care packages to be sent overseas.

About 40 packages were dropped off at Fort Bliss. The 3rd Brigade, 1st Armored Division helped unload the items and will be sending them off to Afghanistan.

Captain Delarius Tarelton commented " A lot of times when you're deployed you don't have the luxuries that you have back here. So something simple as toothpaste and a book or snacks, it goes a long ways, it really boosts morale when soldiers see that people on the home front support them."

Many ROTC students were present and helping Fort Bliss soldiers unload the packages. "It's a good feeling, I mean they don't really have anything out there and sending them stuff knowing that we're still thinking of's a really good feeling.
