Las Cruces elementary school teacher charged with 52 counts of illegally touching girl students

Las Cruces, N.M. (KTSM) — Las Cruces police arrested and charged Jesus Solis, 46, an elementary school teacher, with 52 counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor. Police said the cases are related to inappropriate behavior with three girls who were students in his fourth grade class at Desert Hills Elementary School in Las Cruces. Police said Solis supervised at least two of the students during an after-school program.
Police said Solis allegedly touched the girls inappropriately over their clothes several times. The incidents reportedly happened between August 15, 2011 and May 2, 2013.
Solis was arrested Friday and booked into the Doña Ana County Detention Center with an $80,000 cash-only bond.
