LAS CRUCES - Prayers are going up on behalf of Las Cruces Bishop Ricardo Ramirez.
The diocese confirms that the 74-year-old bishop is hospitalized with pneumonia.
Bishop Ramirez is expected to spend the next several days at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces and then rest next week.
Ramirez has led the Las Cruces Diocese for the past 29 years.

How many people were hospitalized in Las Cruces today? How many young, innocent children died from the flu? How many parents lost their jobs because they were too sick to go to work?
I ask because I am at a complete loss to explain why it's news that one Catholic "leader" is ill. Why the unerring focus on detailing minor and pointless issues without reporting on just how insanely crime-ridden the Catholic church is? Why avoid the real issues and just tell us one man is sick?
