Knowing the Signs of Holiday Blues

It's something that can creep up on you this time of the year.
The holidays are supposed to be bright and shiny and filled with cheer, but sometimes reality doesn't add up to our expections.
That's what psychologists say can cause the blues: having high expectations about what should happen this time of the year.

Family gatherings, work parties and parties with friends are more prevalent this time of the year.
Sometimes people who are introverted feel pressure at social events. That added stress can sometimes cause the blues too.

Often the holidays are a time to spend with family and reminisce. If a loved one has died, the holidays can be a sad reminder.

Seasonal Affective Disorder might not be a big problem in the Sun City, but there is less light during the winter, and that can make people sad too. But there are solutions to that one. UV lamps or more time outside can help ammend that problem.
Doctors say being down is different than actually being depressed.
