A house fire on Pendell Road Wednesday night required 25 firefighters to contain the blaze.

The house, which was vacant, sustained heavy fire and smoke damage throughout. The fire started in a room towards the front of the house and spread  through most of the home. Damages are estimated at $40,000 however no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire was ruled intentional by a fire investigator and a juvenile was detained and has been taken into custody. At this time, investigators do not believe this fire is related to the dumpster and apartment fire that occurred Wednesday morning.

The El Paso Fire Department would like to remind the public to report any suspicious activity by calling 9-1-1. For more information on juvenile fire setting or if you suspect your child is intentionally setting fires please contact the Fire Prevention Division at (915) 485-5699.
