EL PASO - Teaching kids how to balance a checkbook or understand credit cards could make a huge difference in their financial futures.

That's why people, including members of the News Channel 9 news team, took part in a Bowl-A-Thon today at the Fort Bliss Bowling Center.

Each bowler raised money for Junior Achievement, an organization that teaches kids about financial literacy, the global economy and entrepreneurship.

"We want our youth to realize that they are big contributors to the community even at the age that they are now. They can even be bigger contributors when they graduate from high school, college and so forth," Elizabeth Terrazas said.

The Junior Achievement Bowl-A-Thon helps raise the money to keep the program free.
