El Paso - - The State of Texas made short work on Friday of two El Paso judges accused of breaking the law.
As NewsChannel 9 reported last night, Manuel Barraza, Regina Arditti and Sissy Hernandez are under indictment for criminal nepotism, having relatives hired to well-paying public jobs with tax dollars.
Tonight, two of the judges are booted off the bench, at least temporarily.
Armando Durazo with our media partners at the El Paso Times reports the following:
The state suspended Judge Regina Arditti with pay. Judge Manuel Barraza is already on suspension because indictment by the federal government on bribery and conspiracy charges. No action was taken against him. Justice of Peace Sissy Hernandez also was suspended. As you reported yesterday, they are charged with nepotism. Their court dates have been set. Arditti and Barraza go before a judge on Nov. 30. And Hernandez will face a judge on Dec. 3. An interim judge will be appointed starting Monday and all of the other judges may have to share some of her cases so the docket moves on smoothly.
