EL PASO - The judge in the David Marmolejo murder case appears to be leaning toward a change in venue.

As has been widely reported, the judge declared a mistrial in the case after jurors could not reach unanimous agreement on a verdict.

Today the judge said he's considering three locations for Marmolejo's next trial.

He said Austin is his first choice, San Antonio his second and Houston his third choice.

A final decision on a possible change of venue will be made December 14.

Marmolejo is accused of strangling his mother Gloria and of dumping her body in the Santa Teresa desert.

Austin, San Antonio, Houston? Apparently, the the judge is trying to find the most liberal juries outside of El Paso for the defendant. Why not Tyler, Beaumont, Abilene? No hung juries and getting away with murder there.
