A Juarez lawyer is the latest casualty in the ongoing violence across our border. Julian Javier Delgado was shot at least ten times by another man yesterday morning. He was waiting at a traffic light in North Juarez when he was attacked. No arrests were made.
Also yesterday, Mexican soldiers rescued one man from some suspected kidnappers. The troops found the man inside a car that was carrying several bundles of marijuana and two machine guns. Two men were arrested in that case.
Meanwhile, UTEP students have been warned to take extra precautions if they head into Mexico this spring break. Universities across the country are warning students that in light of the drug wars, Mexico is too dangerous. UTEP told students conditions in Mexico, particularly in Juarez, require us to take special precautions to ensure the safety and well being of students.
