POSTED: Monday, February 2, 2009 - 8:38am

UPDATED: Wednesday, February 17, 2010 - 3:23pm

Two men accused of kidnapping a man in Juarez have ties to El Paso. According to State Police in Mexico, Juan Manuel Rico is an American citizen from El Paso. He was released from prison in June of 2008. Authorities say Leopoldo Omar Sanchez, a Mexican citizen from Chihuahua who lives in East El Paso, has a used clothing store near La Alameda Park. He is the brother of a Chihuahua State Police agent and the brother of a former federal prosecutor who was executed. The kidnapping victim says he escaped from a house located in front of the Chihuahua State Police Headquarters in Juarez, but was unharmed. Rico and Sanchez were arrested at the home a short time later; a search of the home revealed drugs and guns inside. Authorities say they're trying to find out if the two men are involved in other criminal activities.
