A jury found 19 year-old Juan Gerardo Gracia not guilty of capital murder charges today.
Gracia faced the charges in the shooting death of Jose Gonzalez-Galeana, who was shot in front of his home on Pony Trail back in 2009.
Gonzalez was a US informant and lieutenant with the Juarez drug cartel.
Two others are also awaiting trial in the plot. Another person is believed to be hiding out in Mexico.
Last month, Christopher Duran pleaded guilty for his involvement in the case.
Today, Gracia is a free man. His friends and family say they're thrilled justice was served, and Gracia's defense attorney says there's an important lesson to be learned from the experience.
"You have to be careful of the people you associate with because you may end up in a very bad situation like Mr. Gracia," said defense attorney, Ruben Morales.
"I'm real happy because that's my little brother right there, you know. I'm glad that the jury did the right decision because he was not guilty," said Gracia's older brother, Jose Enriquez.
Gracia's mother says her son is looking forward to reuniting with his daughter.
Juan Gracia served a year and a half in prison. Now that he's been found not guilty, he can have the charges expunged from his record.
