JAPAN - Rescuers are frantically working around the clock in northern Japan trying to find any survivors from Friday's massive earthquake and tsunami.

Officials estimate more than 10,000 people were killed in the 9.0 quake.

Strong aftershocks continue to shake the region and officials remain worried that another tsunami could hit the coast.

Some 450,000 people are now in evacuation centers not including the 80,000 forced from their homes due to a nuclear power plant leaking radiation prompting fears of a multiple nuclear meltdown.

This morning U.S. warships and planes helping relief efforts have moved away from Japan's coast temporarily because of low-level radiation.

Over the weekend, Japan's prime minister said Friday's quake was the nation's worst crisis since world war two.

The cost to rebuild is estimated at 171 billion dollars.
