Investigators attend pedestrian automobile course
El Paso, TX (KTSM) — Traffic investigators learned some important information on how to investigate accidents involving pedestrians on Thursday.
El Paso County Sheriff's Office, Ft. Bliss Military Police and the El Paso Police Department attended the pedestrian automobile investigation course offered by Delta Collision Consulting & Training.
Investigators were able to take part in impact drills using life-sized dummies and a motor vehicle.
"Often times speed is always an issue in pedestrian crashes and if you don't know the speed of the striking vehicle it's hard to prosecute somebody that type of offense." said David Aguirre, Delta Collision Consulting & Training,
The course is designed to provide investigators with the ability to calculate and determine the speed of a vehicle at impact or when striking a pedestrian.
