The pens are at the center of a medical mistake involving thousands of people.

It is a device used to inject insulin and is considered more convenient than a traditional syringe.

Beaumont Army Medical Center says it may have used the same pen on multiple patients, only changing the needle at the tip.

Experts say a pen is for use on only one person because there is a slight change disease could be spread inside the device.

No word on why the hospital didn't change the pen for each patient but one local doctor says it could have been to save money.
