Car maker offers new return policy to give buyers peace of mind...
The car deals keep getting better as more bad news rolls in for the auto industry.
New numbers out show, industry-wide, sales of cars were down more than 10% for 2008.
Hoping to boost sales, one car maker is offering an economic return policy.
Teri Everett is shopping for new car for her daughter.
But with part of the family budget paying for a scheduled surgery Teri's worried about paying for the car.
Teri Everett says "I think if anyone was to have a medical emergency especially, they would probably want that assurance."
One Korean car maker says no problem.
Hyundai started a new program that allows buyers to return the cars for free if they lose their job or lose their driver's license due to medical reasons.
Tom Hollett of Huffines Hyundai says "lose your job involuntarily is a big one I know a lot of people are concerned about."
The program is available for one year on all remaining 2008 and new 2009 models.
Since every new customer qualifies, Hyundai hopes it'll convince people to sign on the dotted line.
Tom Hollett says "they're looking for a good product and a good warranty, and something that gives them good piece of mind that the product they own at a fair payment is going to deliver."
The program is just a few days old and Teri says the offer will sweeten the deal.
Teri Everett says "I think this is going to be very good for people in this slower economy. Because a lot of people are losing their job and getting laid off, and it's good know that you have the assurance that your car will be taken care of if you can't afford it."
