An El Paso based non-profit organization is expected to detail their plan to help 310 undocumented immigrants flown to the Borderland from the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) in South Texas. As we've reported, 270 were flown to El Paso over the weekend, 40 more arrived from South Texas. Annunciation House held a press conference Monday afternoon.

Organizers explained the more than 80 people they've helped, have or will be leaving El Paso to join family in other parts of the country. All of the undocumented immigrants are facing deportation and will have their court hearings in the city they are traveling to from the Sun City. Community organizers have also stated they have enough resources because the immigrants are traveling to other places.

A photo leaked by an anonymous source, shows dozens upon dozens of undocumented immigrants in an unnamed Border Patrol facility within the RGV. I reached out to Customs and Border Patrol, who sent me a statement, saying in part, they are “assisting with the processing of individuals, many of whom are part of family units… CBP is transferring certain individuals to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE)… where appropriate custody determinations will be made on a case by case basis.”

CBP goes on to say they are placing national security and public safety first. This comes at the heels of a 74-percent increase in undocumented immigrants crossing the RGV, up from Fiscal Year 2013. The Department of Homeland Security has since flown and bussed hundreds of undocumented immigrants to El Paso, and Tucson, Arizona. DHS has not stated if they will continue to move migrants from the RGV to other parts of the nation because of the lack of resources in South Texas.

ICE has not said if more immigrants will be transferred to El Paso from South Texas. This isn't the first time this has happened to the Borderland. They have flown 100 undocumented immigrants to El Paso from the RGV in May of this year.
