The Housing Authority of El Paso (HACEP) has begun a weatherization program to improve the quality of some of its units.
So far over 100 homes have been improved by reinsulating the units, replacing air conditioners and refrigerators, sealing air leaks, etc.
"This massive effort by our Community Services Department will translate into very real savings for thousands of HACEP residents and to the federal taxpayer," said Gerald W. Cichon, Chief Executive Officer of HACEP.
The available $8.7 million is funneled through the city's and Project Bravo's Weatherization Assistance Programs. HACEP hopes to fix 1,000 homes once the renovations are complete.
