House to investigate GM over ignition recall
General Motors is under investigation by the House, in connection with faulty ignition switches linked to 13 deaths. The hearings will investigate why the automaker and federal regulators had trouble recognizing the defect.
Last month, GM announced a recall of almost one-point-four-million cars in the United States. Documents submitted to federal safety regulators reveal the automaker was first alerted to the problem in 2004,but did not issue fixes.
