HORIZON CITY - A fire in Horizon City last month, caused $5,000,000 in damage.

That's the estimate from the El Paso County Fire Marshal's office.

As we reported, flames shot up at least 75 feet in the air on Madero Drive. The fire charred ten acres, but flames destroyed eight commercial buildings, two homes, 16 cars and killed one horse.

Today, we also found out that three firefighters came close to losing their lives in that fire.

Two men who were burning trash are accused of starting the blaze; both are facing arson charges.

Five million? I dont think so. I live in Horizon, I have for 40 yrs. First off this area is not in Horizon City limits, it's a colonia rat trap that are simular to others surrounding what was once a beautiful, small, tight knit community. This area where the fire occured I drive by almost everyday to get to town. They were ramshackle buildings, trashed out old trailors, and junk cars. This is another blatant lie. Don't believe everything you read people.
