Homeless programs in El Paso receive funding
El Paso, TX (KTSM) — Today the U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary awarded more than three-million dollars to support 16 homeless housing programs in Texas. That put more than $78,000 in the hands of the opportunity center in El Paso.
The funding ensures that local homeless assistance programs remain operational in the coming year. This is HUD's second round of 2012 homeless renewal grants.
"What it does is it helps us transport people homeless people to work, to school to medical appointments, taking homeless women and children to daycare and to studies. What we do is we use this program to go to various shelters pick up people and transport homeless people," said Ray Tullius.
