Home for the Holiday: Shelter Pet Adoption Challenge

Friday, December 2, 2011 - 9:08am

EL PASO - Animal Services is challenging the community to find loving homes for shelter animals this holiday season.

The Shelter Pet Adoption Challenge starts December 1, and will run through the end of the month.

Each year, 18,000 animals are euthanized in El Paso, and Animal Services wants to reduce that number by finding homes for shelter pets.

In 2010, 208 shelter pets were adopted during the month of December.  This year, El Paso Animal Services wants to find permanent homes for 215 shelter pets.

Anyone interested can see available pets at the El Paso Animal Services Shelter at 5001 Fred Wilson.  The kennels are open from 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
