You all need to stop making excuses and the City of El Paso, it's Police Department and the Posecuters office need to grow up instead of helping people in this city to run over Motorcylist and then give them a $25.00 ticket for whatever reason. I was ran over by a 17 year old in 2001, stole daddy's car, no licence, ran a red light and got a 25 Dollar ticket for not having a licence. I am permanently disabled, my life changed forever and the El Paso community sits there and does nothing. Job well done El Paso, so stop the crying about a 21 year old and get off your butts and take action. We all are people too.

first and foremost we need to all remember that an innocent life was taken much too soon. please be considerate of the loved ones of keith.

with that in mind, for those of you who know brandon..... its time to face reality. someone did die as a result of someone elses wrong doing. regardless of age, maturity, responsibility and mind frame, everyone needs to STOP making excuses for this boy. because he is in fact a boy. and its time for him to man up and take responsibility for his actions. if this boy was not noble enough to know that it is against the law to drink and drive, than maybe he shouldnt have been drinking at all. and whether or not he knew he hit someone, he did know he hit something and thats reason enough not to run. although brandons family will suffer seeing him go through whatever it is that the law chooses as his punishment.... keiths family is already, and will continue to suffer a much greater loss.

rest in peace keith calpito.

it bothers me to read these comments. sure brandon might have been a great kid who made bad choices. but put your self in the motorcyclists family's position. this kid took the life of a father, a son, a brother, and the best friend that anyone would be lucky to have. if it was your father, brother, son, or best friend you would want the most punishment to the fullest extent of the law, right? brandon broke the law, which is not only bad enough, but HE KILLED SOMEONE, he must face the consequences for his poor judgement. if we dont set an example, when will the younger generation learn? if we dont set an example, should the person that kills your father, son, brother, or best friend walk because he was a good kid? step back and look at this as what if it happened to you.......

Brandon did not flee the scene and im sorry for the familys loss. Brandan is a real nice kid once you get to know him. I know he was wrong for drinking and driving and it cost a life. But he didnt know that he hit a person and he didnt know until his car stopped.Which is inexusable but unfortunately we all make mistakes that end up with someone loosing an innocent life. My prayers go out to the family. Have strength.

Brandon is not a bad kid, he mad a bad decision and a very bad thing happened because of that decision but he is a good kid. I have known Brandon for a long time. I understand that he was under the influence of alcohol but I believe that people are being very hypocritial. I think we have all gotten behind the wheel at least once in our life knowing that we should not be driving. Luckily for us the outcome was different than his. I also believe that you shouldnt judge until you have walked in that persons shoes, fleeing the scene of an accident is not right but you tell me what you would have done when you were 21 and affraid, my point is that no one knows how they will react to a situation until they are in that situation. I am also wondering why the passenger was not charged with fleeing the scene of accident? What happened was horrible and I feel for the family of the motorcyclist, I just want people to know that Brandon is a good kid with a good heart. He was scared and he ran and I know he knows that was wrong, but again he made a bad choice( like we all have in our life)Do not make an example out of him, it could have easily been one of us.
