The number of Hispanic-owned businesses across the country is growing and El Paso is at the forefront.

The Census Bureau has released a report showing the number of Hispanic-owned businesses grew 40% from 2002 to 2007.

But this news comes as no surprise to the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, because over 60% of the businesses here are owned by Hispanics.

Despite what they call good news, they say entrepreneurs here face a challenge.

"There's one thing to have hundreds of thousands of Hispanic businesses across the country," said Cindy Ramos-Davidson, CEO of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. "But if they're only doing a million dollars then we're not making the grade. They need to be doing 100 million dollars."

The Chamber says they are working to change the low-wage mentality that some have of El Paso by offering training in finances and technology.

Wow I am amazed at how raciest El Paso is, what does it matter that there Hispanic owned businesses we are all one people. So what you are really saying in this article is that El Paso is at the forefront of being raciest. The Hispanic Chamber Of Commerce is a raciest organization the proof is in their name! Way to go El Paso I hope you are truly proud.

I agree with you. The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is racist. They want Hispanic businesses to make 100 million dollars, yet they support Obama wanting to tax them more once they are succesful. I own a succesful business but I can not expand on it because of the insecurity that this administraion brings. Why hire people if I have to pay more than my return on investment I'll just freeze hiring and pay my current employees a little more for their hard work. Pitty I could hire 10 to 15 more people

Vote Democrat...Republicans are WHITE extremist that support AZ...the profiling of Latinos

I'm Hispanic and a Proud Republican. If anyone is profiling Latinos its the Hispanic Chamber of Commerece and other racist organizations like Lulac and La Raza. They are the ones that want us Hispanics to be dependent on them and the government to keep dems in office. Look what they have done to the economy and the school system. Billions go out to schools and unionized businesses and no progress has been met. A hole that cannot be filled with our dollars.
