Helen of Troy CEO Rubin steps down
El Paso, Texas (KTSM) — Longtime CEO of Helen of Troy Limited Gerald "Jerry" Rubin is stepping down to run his other company, River Oaks Properties, full-time.
Rubin, 70, resigned effective immediately to run the El Paso commercial real estate firm.
"I am proud of the business we have created and honored to have led such a talented team of nearly 1,500 employees around the world," said Rubin, of the company that started out selling wigs in downtown El Paso.
The UTEP alum's company also sponsored the Sun Bowl game in El Paso for several years, under the Brut brand.
Helen of Troy, a designer, developer, and marketer of houseware and personal care products such as PUR and OXO, and its board of directors has hired Julien Mininberg to take over March 1.
"I am confident that I am leaving the Company I co-founded in 1968 in a strong position to continue to grow and prosper," said Rubin.
Mininberg led Helen of Troy's largest business segment, and previously worked for more than 15 years at Procter & Gamble.
Current CFO Thomas Benson will serve as CEO in the meantime.
