LAS CRUCES — The Las Cruces Public Schools Head Start Program is looking to recruit three and four year-olds for the 2013, 2014 school year.

The Head Start Program is for families with low income or families who are homeless.

Head Start application procedures must be followed by all applicants.

The school district does not provide transportation for participating children.

There are specific age requirements for participation in Head Start.

For the four year-old center-based program: the child must be four years old before September 1, 2013.

For the three year-old center-based program: the child must be three years old before September 1, 2013.

For the three year-old home-based program: the child must be three years old before September 1, 2013.

Here are the documents needed to complete the Head Start application:
• Child's current immunization record
• Child's original state birth certificate (hospital records, baptismal records, etc. not accepted)
• Documentation of medical diagnosis indicating any allergies or medical concerns of child
• Proof of Income:
▫ 2012 Income Tax Return
▫ Notarized Employment Verification for 2012
▫ Child Support for 2012
▫ Grants/Scholarships for 2012
▫ Social Security/Retirement Pension for 2012
▫ Workers' Compensation, Unemployment Compensation, etc. for 2012
▫ Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) for 2012
▫ Supplemental Security Income (SSI) for 2012
• Guardianship/Foster Parent/Caregiver Authorization
• Notarized Verification of No Income, Homelessness, or
• Military Status for 2012 (Forms are available at the Head Start office, 621 E. Lohman Ave.)
