Halloween costumes come in all shapes, sizes and colors, but now some parents like Jennifer Bencomo are concerned that costumes are more scandalous than scary.
"It is difficult to find appropriate costumes for our children because they seem to be really sexualizing and sensualizing the apparel," Bencomo said.
Other parents like Camille Abraham think that teens should be able to enjoy themselves and dress up however they want, after all, it's only a costume.
"It's their inhibition it's their one time a year where they can just be whoever they want and no one's judging them. So why not have fun without being looked down upon," Abraham said.
So we asked, how young is too young?
"I want to say like 12 maybe maybe even 10. I don't know,"
This mother of three says that she's happy with her 17 year-old's costume this year and she'll be needing mom's approval for a while.
"When she's on her own and she can support herself then she can wear whatever she wants to," Bencomo said.
The manager at Spirit Halloween, Crystal Chavez, says there are appropriate options for people of all ages.
"There is a teen section. They're a little bit longer and a little bit more covered up for those that need are trying to cover up a little bit more. Because there are the short ones that are a little bit too risky for teenagers that parents don't approve of," Chavez said.
And if you're concerned about what your kids are dressing up as.
"We suggest to the parents that they come with their child because they may show up at home with a costume that they don't approve of," Chavez said.
