County Commissioner Dan Haggerty, responding to the imminent destruction of the Insights science museum downtown, called city leaders "idiots" for tearing down "a perfectly good building."

Insights will soon get the wrecking ball, with demolition to finish by April 15, so that construction can begin on a new downtown baseball stadium.

Insights has been in discussion about a new location. It may find temporary quarters at Alamo Elementary School in south El Paso.

Haggerty responded to the demolition and possible relocation. "I have my own opinion which is I'm pissed. It's going to cost me more dollars,.  And you're telling me south El Paso? I'm excited about that. That's where everybody goes in El Paso to see a museum. It's a non issue for us on commissioner's court but in my personal opinion, its a travesty."
